Some engagement sessions feel extra special from the very start—and Megan + Mac’s was one of those evenings. Not only are these two planning a gorgeous destination wedding right here in Punta Gorda next year, but they chose to celebrate this season of engagement in the very place where they’ll say “I do.” There’s something meaningful about photographing a couple in the city that will soon hold some of their most cherished memories.
And Punta Gorda delivered—soft breezes off the harbor, warm sun, and the kind of small-town charm that makes every corner a perfect backdrop.
We began the afternoon at Gilchrist Park, tucked along the shoreline with palm trees swaying overhead. Megan + Mac chose coordinating white outfits for this first look, which felt clean, fresh, and beautifully timeless against the bright greens and blues of the park.
The light was soft and diffused as they walked along the water, laughing easily and melting into each other’s arms as if they’d been doing engagement sessions for years. Their chemistry is effortless—playful one moment and quietly romantic the next.
Gilchrist Park is one of those locations where the beauty speaks for itself, but these two made it come alive. Between the little private jokes, the forehead kisses, and the way Mac looked at Megan like she was the only person on the planet… every frame felt full of heart.
As the sun dipped lower, we headed toward the marina for the second half of the session. Megan + Mac changed into black tops and denim, which brought a whole new vibe—casual, confident, and perfectly fitting for golden hour by the docks.
The shift in outfits mirrored the shift in atmosphere: the sky turning soft oranges and pinks, boats swaying gently behind them, and reflections dancing across the water. It was the kind of sunset you secretly hope for as a photographer, and it showed up in full color.
This part of the session felt more relaxed—hands in pockets, leaning on railings, strolling along the boardwalk. There’s something about denim at sunset that just works, and paired with Punta Gorda’s coastal charm, it created the dreamiest ending to the evening.
Megan + Mac didn’t just pick a pretty place—they picked their place. The city where their story will officially take its next step. Shooting your engagement session in the same town (or even the same venue!) as your wedding adds layers of meaning to your images and helps you:
By the time their wedding arrives next year, these photos will feel like part of the narrative.
White for a clean, classic look and denim/black for warmth and contrast—just like Megan + Mac.
Walk the pier, explore a park, wander downtown. The more you move, the more natural the photos feel.
If it’s a destination wedding, let your engagement session be your “welcome” to the city.
Especially near marinas or waterfronts—golden hour turns everything magical.
The laughs, the glances, the quiet moments… those are the images you’ll love most.
As the last bit of sun slipped behind the boats and the sky turned dusky purple, Megan + Mac held each other close, already imagining the moment they’ll stand together here again—only next time, surrounded by friends, family, and all the joy of their destination wedding.
Megan + Mac, thank you for trusting me with this beautiful season of your lives. If your engagement session is any indication… your wedding is going to be absolutely unforgettable. 💛🌅
