Let me reassure you—absolutely not! Your home is meant to look lived-in, not like it’s straight out of a magazine. The goal of an in-home lifestyle session is to capture the authentic beauty of your family’s everyday life—snuggles on the couch, tiny toes in the nursery, giggles between siblings. These moments shine brightest when you’re relaxed and comfortable in your own space.

Focus Your Energy: Two Key Spaces

Rather than trying to scrub every corner, I recommend choosing two areas with great natural light and giving them a quick tidy. For most homes, this is usually:

1. The Primary Bedroom or Master Bed
   This is often where we start or end the session. A freshly made bed with neutral or soft-colored bedding creates a cozy and timeless backdrop for newborn cuddles, nursing moments, or quiet bonding with older siblings.
2. The Living Room or Nursery
   If your living room gets that lovely Florida sunshine through big windows, it’s a perfect space for playful, candid moments—like storytime with big sister or relaxed family snuggles. If the nursery has good light, we’ll absolutely use it to capture sweet details like the crib, changing area, and any meaningful décor.

In both spots, a quick declutter is all you need—think hiding laundry baskets, tossing extra items in a closet, and maybe wiping down a surface or two. No one is looking at your baseboards, I promise!

I recently had the honor of photographing baby Liam’s lifestyle newborn session in his family’s North Port home, and it was everything I love about in-home storytelling.

Big sister Maddie was a total star—excited, gentle, and so full of love for her baby brother. We started the session in the parents’ bedroom, where soft morning light poured in through the windows.
