If you’ve been around for any of length of time, you know that ALP couples value heartfelt details and truly just a celebration of marriage above all else. Veronica and David’s destination wedding on Venice Beach in Florida was one of those days. From the intimate ceremony with a family sand ceremony to the breathtaking sunset and precious family heirlooms, including the bride wearing her own mother’s wedding veil, their celebration was a beautiful reminder of the power of love and resilience.
In talking with Veronica and David ahead of their wedding, they shared that their inspiration was their love sunsets. In fact, it was one of the key reasons they chose to travel from the Midwest to Venice Beach in Florida for their destination wedding. They wanted a backdrop that reflected their love for each other and the natural beauty of Florida’s Gulf Coast. And let me tell you, Venice Beach did not disappoint.
As the sun dipped into the horizon, casting a golden glow over the calm waters, it felt like the entire world was holding its breath. It was the perfect moment for these two to exchange vows, surrounded by just their closest family and friends. Their ceremony was simple yet profound, with soft waves lapping at the shore and the sky painted in hues of pink and orange. I’ve always believed that some of the most beautiful weddings happen when there’s an intimate connection between the couple and the setting, and this day was a perfect example of that.
Like many couples in Southwest Florida, Veronica and David’s original plans were disrupted by the aftermath of the hurricanes that impacted the region. Their first venue, Sharky’s on the Pier, had sustained damage, and their reception had to be moved. But the couple took it all in stride. They quickly found an alternative location—Casey Key Resort Mainland, a charming venue that still offered stunning views of the surrounding nature.
Despite the challenges they faced in the aftermath of the storms, Veronica and David’s spirits remained high. The change of venue only seemed to deepen their appreciation for the day, and the love they shared with each other and their guests was palpable. As a photographer, I truly believe that it’s these unexpected moments that often create the most beautiful memories.
One of the things I absolutely loved about Veronica and David’s wedding was their choice of color palette. Inspired by their love for sunsets, they opted for a combination of navy blue and burnt orange, which complemented the natural colors of the beach at golden hour. The navy added a sense of elegance, while the burnt orange brought warmth and vibrancy to the entire celebration.
The boho-inspired decor was the perfect fit for the relaxed, beachy vibe of the day. With flowing fabrics, earthy accents, and eclectic touches like dreamcatchers and macramé, the reception was a stylish reflection of Veronica and David’s personalities. The florals—rich with hues of orange, cream, and blush—added a soft, romantic feel, while still maintaining that free-spirited vibe that boho weddings are known for.
The reception at Casey Key Resort Mainland was cozy and intimate, with candlelight flickering across tables set up under the stars. Guests mingled, laughed, and danced the night away, celebrating not just the joining of two souls but the resilience and joy that come with overcoming challenges together.
As a photographer, I always encourage couples to embrace the magic of sunset portraits, and Veronica and David’s wedding was no exception. The golden hour light was absolutely stunning. The beach, with its powdery sand and the gentle ebb of the waves, created a serene and romantic atmosphere. We took advantage of every moment of that soft, glowing light to capture intimate, candid moments between the couple.
There’s something undeniably special about a couple standing hand in hand as the sun sets behind them. In those moments, it’s as if time slows down, and everything feels right in the world. For Veronica and David, it wasn’t just about the stunning scenery; it was about their love story unfolding in such a meaningful place. And as a photographer, I was so grateful to capture those fleeting moments that they will treasure for years to come.
Veronica and David’s wedding was a beautiful reflection of their love: a love that was unwavering, despite the challenges they faced, and a love that radiated with joy, adventure, and connection. It was a reminder that weddings aren’t just about the perfect details; they’re about the people, the memories, and the moments that truly matter.
Thank you, Veronica and David, for allowing me to be part of such a special day. From the beach ceremony to the boho-inspired reception, every moment was a testament to your incredible bond. I wish you both a lifetime of sunsets, laughter, and love. Your wedding will forever remain one of my favorites.
For future couples looking to plan a destination wedding in Florida, take it from Veronica and David—sometimes, it’s the unexpected changes that lead to the most memorable and beautiful moments. Trust in the process, embrace the challenges, and most importantly, focus on the love you’re celebrating.
